Hardware overview

Overview of the H60/H66 device.

The H60 solution is sold as a main unit that has to be completed with a heat pump cable/interface specific for the intended model of heat pump.

The first thing to do is to attach the cable-interface to the main unit. For this, remove 4 screws at the bottom of the main unit box and open the cover. Attach the interface cable circuit board on the two header connectors on the main board. Make sure to align it properly to the pins the right way. Miss-aligning the interface could damage the electronics.

Now attach the cover again using the 4 screws.

The USB Port
On the side there is a micro USB port that is primary used to provide power to some heat pump models. Currently Thermia heat pumps and IVT 490 must be supplied with an external power supply. Other usage is to support advanced management, development, re-flash and for special solutions. Avoid connect a power source or computer to the USB port at the same time the H60 is connected to a heat pumps power (besides Thermia and IVT 490). This could cause damage to the Computer, H60 unit and the heat pump. If you for some reason need to use the USB port, disconnect the heat pump power cable (violet) from the cable interface first so the unit is powered from the USB jack instead. The setting for the port is 115200 baud.

Buttons
The device has two buttons on its side.
The Reset button will restart the unit, normally never used but if it gets stuck in an update or something it may be useful.

The Init button has two functions.
By holding it for 2 seconds, the unit will be put in AP (Access Point) mode so you can access the unit by connecting to it’s SSID ”Husdata H60”. See support section. By holding the button for 6 seconds until the green led goes dark the unit will load default / factory reset config.

LEDs
The Red led is flashing irregular when the unit has contact with and communicating with the heat pump.

The Green led is signalling the Network/Wi-Fi Connection status and should flash slowly in normal operations.

Technical info H60
The H60 is a dual processor solution based on PIC and ESP controllers.
The PIC microconroller firmware is based on our proved H1 interface solutions and are handling all heat pump low level communications. The ESP8266 is a well known system on a chip platform and are handling WiFi network communications and hosting the web portal.

The PIC-controller Heatpump communications is performed independently from the ESP Wifi ESP controller. So if the ESP restarts, loose communications, or whaterver disturbance that could occur, it will not disturb or give trouble codes on the heatpump as the PIC controller remains unaffected.


H60 (not H66) is an open source platform. Hard core developers has the possibility to develop their own custom firmware. The H60 (not H66) USB interface module is fully compatible with the Arduino environment as an Wemos D1 Mini unit.

Technical info H66
The H66 is very similar to H60, it was developed due to component shortage.
The H66 is based on an dual core ESP32 system-on-a-chip solution.
Core one of ESP32 is dedicated for handling heat pump low level communications, and the other core is for handling WiFi network communications and hosting the web portal, etc.
